How to Make Mushroom Tea
Mushroom tea is a quick and convenient way to consume magic mushrooms. While most commonly associated with their hallucinogenic effects, mushrooms also offer numerous medicinal advantages. When selecting which strain of mushroom to add to your tea blend, keep in mind your desired results. Do your research beforehand so you’re using an ideal strain.
Mushrooms are packed with nutrients that offer both physical and mental health benefits when consumed regularly, including making an easy tea that can be enjoyed any time of day but especially as an early morning wake-up drink. Mushroom tea may also promote digestion function, increase energy levels and help ensure healthy sleeping patterns.
Mushroom tea can be made by steeping psilocybin mushrooms in hot water to infuse their psychoactive compounds into your system. When choosing which kind of mushroom and following dosage recommendations on its label is key. Furthermore, having someone you trust with you during this experience can provide support as psilocybin may cause dizziness and confusion.
Chopping dried mushrooms before adding them to your tea is important in masking their earthy flavors and helping the psilocybin more readily absorb through body tissues. Once chopped, bring water to boil before allowing it to cool slightly before adding chopped mushrooms for 10-15 minutes before taking it off the heat and serving your tea.
Add extra antioxidants to your mushroom tea by brewing it with herbs and spices in addition to just mushrooms, such as chaga and blueberries, tulsi and pineapple, or turkey tail and lemon balm. Herbs and spices may help mask its earthy taste and add depth of flavor; popular herbal combinations for mushroom tea include these pairings: chaga + blueberries | Tulsi + pineapple | Turkey tail + lemon balm.
There are also mushroom tea products that blend directly with hot water, eliminating the need to steep mushrooms first. While more expensive, these kinds of products provide quick and convenient service – some even contain chaga extract which provides vitamins C and beta-glucans which are believed to boost immunity.
Mushroom extract powder works much like any herb or tea product and comes at various price points to meet every budget. When using hot liquids, take care not to boil as this will destroy psilocybin. A tea strainer or cheesecloth are recommended when brewing extract powder as solid particles can easily mix in with the liquid and cause issues when filtering it later on.
