How is it done?
Paul Newman remains committed to charity through the Newman’s Own Foundation, which distributes these after-tax profits among numerous educational and charitable institutions.
Newman’s Own Organics offers delicious coffee that also contributes to improving our planet. Their products are certified organic by Oregon Tilth, using ingredients grown according to sustainable agriculture practices that benefit both farmers and the environment.
Keurig Green Mountain is proud to be the exclusive roaster, seller and distributor of Newman’s Own Organics Fair Trade Certified coffees. To ensure mold free beans, each week our beans are tested at an independent lab which reports back the results directly to Keurig with any samples that fail rigorous quality standards not being shipped – giving our customers peace of mind knowing their coffee will meet our high quality standards for enjoyment with family or friends! This testing helps make sure it reaches you unblemished and ready to be enjoyed.
Why is it important?
Even when using healthy and eco-friendly farming practices, mold and mycotoxins will still be present in coffee beans due to all of the variables present during production.
Most coffee crops are grown in tropical climates, which are warm and humid environments prone to the proliferation of mold species that produce mycotoxins. Furthermore, drying coffee beans introduces more mold spores into the product; then when shipping from producer to brand company via container made from plastic or laminated barrier film – creating ideal conditions for mold growth.
Once coffee has been packaged with its signature packaging and sent off for shipping to stores that specialize in natural and organic products, it may then be repackaged for further distribution to individual consumers – which opens up the risk of mycotoxins entering new batches of product.
According to one study, green coffee beans contain both ochratoxin A and aflatoxin B1, both known to have negative health effects in large doses. Roasting can reduce these toxin concentrations by as much as 42-45%;
That is why it is imperative to buy coffee that has been lab tested for mycotoxins and mold. My two recommended brands for safe and toxin free coffee are Purity Coffee and Natural Force; both companies provide transparent service by making all lab reports publicly accessible, in addition to offering other mold free products like grass-fed collagen peptides and organic MCT oil that have also been certified.
How can you be sure it’s mold free?
Mold growth can present serious health hazards, particularly to people suffering from allergies and asthma. Furthermore, it can wreak havoc with buildings by discoloring building materials and leaving unsightly and difficult-to-remove stains on surfaces; mold spores may even be inhaled directly, causing eye, nose, throat irritation.
To keep your home mold-free, ensure there is proper ventilation in bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms. Vent appliances that produce moisture – such as stoves and clothes dryers – to the outside while running dehumidifiers in high moisture areas. Also address leaky plumbing or water problems immediately while also promptly cleaning surfaces and fabrics as soon as possible.
