Is Starbucks Iced Coffee Healthy?
Starbucks may be known for embracing change with seasonal menus and secret Frappuccino offerings, but some things remain the same. Take its iconic iced coffee, for example: its iconic status on the menu has not altered in 18 years – when Starbucks announced that they were changing it up in order to make it healthier – customers expressed disappointment. Luckily though, its not going anywhere – just modified with reduced calories, less sugar, and no artificial sweeteners in it instead! While fans don’t seem too pleased by these changes though
Starbucks’ new iced coffee blend is composed of sun-dried Latin American coffee beans that have been specially chosen to be both approachable and refreshing, producing an aromatic drink that features sweet notes such as brown sugar and milk chocolate, while also boasting lower caffeine levels than its predecessor, making it more suitable for morning wake-ups.
Good news is, this and other iced beverages on your menu can easily be tailored to become healthier. Simply adding nonfat milk or another nondairy alternative can reduce calories by around 10% while choosing lower-calorie sweeteners like cinnamon can cut back sugar intake by 20-40 grams per serving.
Many iced teas on our menu are naturally low in calories and sugar. If you want something with more flavor, consider ordering a chai tea latte without syrup or whipped cream; alternatively, select one with unsweetened coconut or almond milk drizzled into it as an additional way of keeping calories down while still satisfying your thirst for caffeine!
For something stronger than regular iced coffee, consider opting for a nitro cold brew, which is simply black iced coffee infused with nitrogen to give it a smoother texture. While higher in calories than many of the other options on the menu (including ones featuring syrups or toppings), it remains one of the lowest sodium drinks on offer.
Shaken espressos, hand-shaken drinks with 100 calories for each single serving, are another delicious alternative. Or order a light or skinny frappuccino made with nonfat milk and minimal pumps of flavorful syrup; plus the Starbucks app allows users to customize their beverages – specifying less syrup or no whipped cream when ordering their beverage from any location!
