How to Make Mellow Mushroom Tea
As with any psychedelic experience, confidentiality should always be maintained. Keep your mushroom tea in an opaque thermos to protect it from prying eyes.
Start slowly to see how things pan out; after all, an unpleasant trip is no laughing matter. Bear in mind that environment and mindset can have a big effect on how your experience plays out.
The Flavor
Mushroom shrooms lend themselves well as a base ingredient in tea blends, with their sweet taste complementing well with honey, ginger or lemon-flavored additives. Many seasoned mushroom enthusiasts opt to make their own mushroom tea instead of purchasing chocolate bars or gummies, as this provides more control over dosing and an enjoyable, natural tasting experience than psilocybin-laced edibles. To make shroom tea, simply boil water in a pot and steep ground psilocybin mushrooms for 10-15 minutes in boiling water. This recipe calls for one eighth of mushrooms per two cups of water but you can easily adjust as per your desired strength or potency of your tea brew. Once completed, store in the fridge and use within two weeks or so to maintain freshness.
The Dosage
As when making any dish from scratch, using a scale to accurately measure out the dosage is key to creating shroom tea on your own. With it you can be certain you’re taking enough or too little. Finding your ideal dose when microdosing psilocybin can be difficult; too much may cause psychoactive side effects that you don’t want. To start out weighing out 0.1 to 0.2 grams of dried shrooms should provide enough experience and tolerance testing.
Microdosing with mushrooms can also be made easy with pre-packaged shroom tea bags, which contain pre-measured amounts of mushroom powder in each tea bag and are widely available at most health food stores. When using these, remember that steeping time plays an important role in how powerful your shroom tea will be; leaving it for too long could decrease concentration and lessen effectiveness.
This method of dosing is much gentler on your stomach than eating raw mushrooms, which can be challenging on digestion and take an extended timeframe to take effect. While raw mushrooms may work for those willing to wait out their effects slowly, it may not be ideal for people who require rapid relief quickly.
Tea is often preferred by experienced mushroom enthusiasts because it offers greater convenience and provides greater control of dosage. As opposed to other dosing methods, when making shroom tea it begins acting faster and lasts longer; furthermore anecdotal evidence indicates it reduces nausea while simultaneously increasing enjoyment compared to eating whole mushrooms or taking shroom-infused chocolate bars or gummies. If this is your first experience it may be wiser to begin slowly before gradually increasing it over time.
The Effects
Brewing mushrooms into tea offers greater dosing control for quick doses or an all-day beverage, eliminating intense visualizations while helping prevent psychological dependency. One gram should suffice for most people and this also prevents psychological dependence.
First, grind the mushrooms to a fine powder using either a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle. Next, combine your desired tea with the mushrooms, steep for 10-15 minutes, strain out, and enjoy! You may add honey or other flavoring agents for more taste!
Drinking mushroom tea allows psilocybin to enter your body quickly through your digestive system, providing faster results than eating whole mushrooms or taking pills containing it. Effects could begin as soon as 30 minutes post consumption depending on factors like metabolism and environmental influences; though individual results may differ.
Effects from mushrooms typically reach their maximum between one and three hours after ingestion. You could experience vivid colors and patterns, making the world seem surreal and magical; you may also feel extremely happy or laugh often while emotions may become intense; in addition, you could also feel connected with other people and want to spend more time with them.
Be mindful that psilocybin is a strong hallucinogen and should never drive while on it. As it can lead to visual distortions and changes, it’s best to stay safe and comfortable in an environment. Also keep a journal or notes handy; your experience could spark unexpected insights into yourself and life in general.
As too much mushroom can have psychoactive effects, using a scale is recommended when microdosing mushrooms. Starting off at a lower dose may help avoid developing tolerance; over time tolerance builds up over time leading to psychological dependence making it hard to feel similar effects even at lower dosage levels. It’s therefore wise to microdose every other day rather than daily for optimal results.
