Update: I found that this is more effective for me when I take it at the same time as I take my DHA Fish Oil capsule.I am almost finished with my third bottle of NOW Phosphatidyl Serine (120 capsules each). I have always been a naturally high-strung person, and I have a tendency to internalize stress. I have tested as having very high cortisol, accompanied by low progesterone (called the “Progesterone Steal,” by my Anatomy and Physiology Professor). I strongly suspect this is related to my fertility problems (dubbed “unexplained infertility by the clinic). Unfortunately, being a bucket of stress is not conducive to health in any area of life.Since I started taking this product, my stress levels are absolutely manageable. This is not a subtle effect; it’s quite obvious when I have forgotten to take my pill (morning and night, and occasionally lunch time if it’s a particularly stressful day). I become extremely edgy, and much more likely to snap at anything that goes wrong. This little pill has helped my marriage, and helped me to be a better mother. My husband has remarked multiple times on the difference in my mood between when I have taken a pill and when I haven’t. I have also started ovulating again. (I do also take NOW DHA/EPA, along with my raw prenatal vitamins and folate.)If you have irritability and adrenaline issues, and trouble dealing with stress, I highly recommend you give this a try!

I have just started taking ONE 100 mg capsule about an hour before bed about a week ago as per a suggestion from my doctor. The first couple of nights I slept wonderfully and I had been having some difficultly getting a good nights sleep prior to that. I seemed to have more mental clarity as well. I felt like I had more energy after sleeping so well. However, I have not continued to feel as great as I did the first 1-3 days. I would love to hear how many capsules other people take that have success with this product.I am wondering about taking more than 1 capsule, as this product seems to have a stimulant like effect on people with mental clarity and energy, yet I am taking it before bed for better sleep. Most of the reviews show people are happy with this and it is helping them, but not many tell how many capsules they are taking for the results they have had.

I started taking PS (phosphatydil serine) because I’d been suffering from a range of symptoms including brain fog, anxiety, confusion and depression, following an injury and a high stress event in my life. The stress apparently made my stress levels and cortisol levels shoot through the roof, leaving me stuck in “fight or flight” mode for several weeks. The first brand I tried was NOW. It was almost immediately helpful, particularly once I combined it with fish and krill oil. I believe this is because it’s helped reign in my cortisol levels. It’s one of the more effective brands, at least for me.More thoughts:1) NOW has several types of PS: soy based, sunflower seed based, with choline/inositol, or with ginko biloba. The type I take is soy based and has added choline/inositol. In principle I don’t like the idea of taking a soy based product. But for me, soy based PS has been more effective than the sunflower based PS products I’ve tried.2) I have not found NOW PS, or any other brand of “pure PS,” to be effective when taken alone. PS works best when taken with fish oil or krill oil which are high in DHA. This makes sense because the types of PS which showed such benefits in lab test years ago were extracted from cow’s brains, which are, like human brains, naturally high in DHA. PS and DHA need to be taken at the same time.4) Another PS product I like and recommend is the one called Sharpthought from Country Life — a type of PS which has been complexed with DHA. It’s more expensive than plain PS, but you don’t have to take it with fish or krill, so it’s not as much pricier as it might seem. See my review of it, also on Amazon.Good luck. If you’re looking for a natural product to help reduce your cortisol levels, I hope you find something that helps.

Marathoners, athletes and other adrenaline and stress addicts more often don’t know if and when they are overworking their adrenals leading to failure. A preliminary sign is a rise in cortisol. You wouldn’t know when atrial stretching is leading to arrhythmia unless you wear an ePulse monitor that counts atrial rhythm that can suddenly reach over 150 bpm while the ventricles are beating less than 70 bpm, which can create blood clots. Use the internet for research to find the info. There are cortisol spit tests…… phosphatidylserine provides a kind of sugar that lowers cortisol to prevent cardiac overstimulation by taking it at or before 5AM when many heart attacks occur. There is a symptom called Cortisol Awakening Syndrome. Also supplementing with krill oil, which is a phosphate oil helps. I’ve been able to keep my atrial and ventricular rates below 80 bpm at rest and less than 110 bpm when working with PS where Metoprolol, Norvasc, didn’t.

I tried Phosphatidyl Serine after hearing one of speakers at the Hay House conference talk about its benefits with brain fog, mood and ADHD. Within a couple of weeks, I noticed a big difference in my ability to recall names, make associations, working the complicated and annoying settings on the remote and my overall tiredness, lack of energy, anxiety and depressed mood. I feel more like my old self again and have more motivation. Definitely do NOT think it is a placebo effect because I’ve tried many other things without this level of improvement.I only wish that the soy-free version came in capsule form instead of tablets. Tablets usually upset my stomach so I don’t dare try the soy-free formula. I have not had any stomach problems with these capsules. If you’re on the fence about trying these, please don’t hesitate. I’ve returned to buy my second bottle and don’t want to be without them.

Decided to Buy this product because I read a lot online about the benefits of the Phosphatidyl Serine. I am very curious about nutrition and especially natural remedies, so if you are like me, you probably have read about a lot of these so called superfoods and their benefitsI decided to give it a try.It is known for its effects on decreasing Cortisol and improving testosterone levels. Also, know as a cognitive boosterTo be completely honest, I didn’t feel any difference in me. No more energy or even libido. No more attention or focus also.On the other hand since I did not test my T leves or my Cortisol leves before and after, can’t really say that it did not work. There is a lot of evidence defending the benefits of this substance but I did not feel a big difference like with other substances.Decent price comparing with other brands

I was previously prescribed a low dosage antidepressant for anxiety and OCD. Been taking Phosphatidyl Serine for a couple months now and I feel great overall. It doesn’t feel like just a fix, I actually feel better! I joke that I feel like superwoman on my new supplements, but I feel such a difference.I’ve been taking it with:-

This was recommended to me for the cognitive decline I’m experiencing due to ageing. I am only 2 weeks in and I see some improvement in concentration plus an increase in energy. I am hopeful the impact will increase as I continue it’s use.

If I don’t have ADHD, I have very ADHD-like symptoms (I keep meaning to get myself evaluated, but forgetting). Mostly inattentiveness and insomnia. As soon as I started taking this everything got better. I can pay attention to things for more than one minute. By the end of the day, my mind has the ability to shut off instead of flitting from thought in an relentless cycle of questionable ideas and crazy ambitions (which will never be fulfilled because everything is overwhelming once I’m out of bed). It’s not a fix. I still don’t sleep *great*, and I’m still distractible. But it’s like the difference between trying to focus on one whack-a-mole game and trying to focus on ten at once.
