Medicinal mushrooms are well-known to have antioxidant properties and can aid in improving immunity, cognitive function and energy levels. There are now products on the market which combine medicinal mushrooms with ground coffee beans to provide an energizing and healthier alternative to regular coffee consumption; however it’s important to remember that such combinations don’t usually come backed with scientific proof and may not produce the same effects as either coffee or mushroom extract alone.

Coconut oil, found in some products such as Laird and Terrasoul, adds fat to drinks, which may make them difficult to digest for those living with reflux disease (GERD). This could trigger symptoms due to additional pressure it puts on their stomachs.

When purchasing reishi mushroom coffee, make sure that its ingredients do not include artificial sweeteners like sucralose, stevia or erythritol as these artificial sweeteners may increase acid production – particularly among people suffering from GERD or IBS who experience bloating and increased pressure in their stomach, leading to opening of lower esophageal sphincter (LES) which results in heartburn. In addition, keep in mind that taking reishi mushroom extract with blood thinners could increase bleeding or worsen symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory bowel disease if taking immunosuppressant medications to treat these conditions.
