Medicinal mushrooms are well-known for their anti-inflammatory, immune system and stress relieving properties, but magic mushrooms may alter perception and consciousness in different ways. If you want a controlled dosage or want an experience the psychedelic effects of magic mushrooms without the mind-altering side effects, creating your own mushroom tea is a fantastic option. Mushroom tea can be made using any variety of mushroom type such as Reishi, Chaga or any of the more “normal” varieties that provide numerous health benefits without altering perception or altering consciousness.

Preparing mushroom tea is generally straightforward. Grind the mushrooms into a fine powder using either a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle, before mixing with other ingredients to form herbal tea blends with flavors such as hibiscus, ginger, chai tea, green tea or lemon juice for maximum variety and dosing control. Addition of flavor enhancers can enhance both the experience of taking medicinal fungi while providing additional dosing controls.

Mushroom tea can be enjoyed in various forms, from shots to full mugs of brew. One common method for taking mushroom tea is as a lemon tek, in which crushed or ground mushrooms are mixed with fresh lemon juice (to your desired level) before being consumed all at once. Please be warned, as handling mushrooms requires gloves if you want to prevent getting any in your eyes or any potential allergic reactions from the mushrooms themselves.

Decoctions offer another method for making mushroom tea that’s both refined and delicious – boiling the mushrooms in water to extract all of their benefits and create an aromatic decoction is especially suitable for woody or rubbery mushrooms such as Reishi, Many-zoned Polypore or Chaga for maximum nutrition absorption. Decoctions also produce delicious flavors while simultaneously extracting maximum nutrition from your herbs!

These methods of ingestion are perfect for experiencing higher doses of psilocybin-containing mushrooms; however, brewing large batches is also a great way to experience more subtle effects from reishi or chaga mushrooms such as nausea and bloating which could come with single servings of magic mushrooms containing psilocybin–including increased awareness and relaxation.

Mushroom tea can be an amazing addition to your daily diet when prepared correctly. Not only is it delicious in its own right, but you can use it as an ingredient to season a variety of dishes with umami. Dylan Dreyer recently touted its power on Today Show; mushroom powder has since become increasingly popular with chefs nationwide and Dylan has raved about its umami power – try adding some mushroom powder onto scrambled eggs or use it add an umami punch in roasted vegetables for maximum enjoyment!
