How to Make Reishi Mushroom Coffee
Reishi mushroom coffee has been quickly rising in popularity and for good reason. This healthy beverage combines ground coffee with extract powder from various types of mushrooms such as Lion’s Mane, Chaga or Reishi for added health benefits such as stress relief, increased cognition and immune support.
Mushroom coffee offers lower caffeine content than its traditional counterpart, making it the ideal solution for those with sensitive stomachs or seeking to avoid jitters and crashes. Plus, its earthy mushroom flavour adds a pleasant balance to this drink!
To create your own reishi mushroom coffee, start by choosing your preferred quality coffee beans and mixing them with the extract powder of your choice. Next, prepare it using pour-over or another method of brewing; bring water to boiling, allow it to stand and cool before pouring out into a filter paper holder in your pour-over for optimal pour-over coffee temperature (195-205 degrees Fahrenheit), grind your coffee-mushroom mixture to medium consistency before placing the grounds into your filter paper filter holder in your pour-over brewing; slowly pour water onto grounds in series for optimal flavor and to avoid over-brewing.
Another popular variation combines instant coffee with milk and reishi mushroom extract, then stir well before topping with either whipped cream or cocoa powder for an enjoyable beverage.
