Armenian coffee has long been enjoyed across the globe for its decadent taste and distinctive brewing process, setting it apart from other types of coffee and carrying great cultural significance and health benefits.

Armenian coffee, known as Soorj, is usually prepared using a small copper or brass pot called a Jazzve or Ibrik. Beans are ground into fine powder before mixing with water and sugar before being brought to boil over low heat and continuously stirred during this process. Finally, after being completely boiled it’s poured into cups before creating an abundance of foam on top!

Soorj preparation requires both time and careful attention to detail. The mixture must be stirred carefully so as not to overflow and burn the beans, before being removed from heat as soon as it starts bubbling or rising, in order to avoid burning it and ruining a batch of coffee. Mastering this art form takes practice – an intuitive cook should know exactly when their coffee has reached that state!

As opposed to Turkish and Greek coffee, which are typically served unsweetened, Soorj is typically sweetened during its brewing process with sugar to add sweetness and balance the bitterness of roasted coffee beans.

Soorj is often served with bread to aid digestion of its caffeine-based beverage, especially when taken first thing in the morning to begin your day off right. The combination of caffeine and sugar stimulates brain activity while providing energy boost. Furthermore, Soorj may improve mental alertness and memory retention.
