Is Coffee Healthy Or Not?
As it stands now, coffee has long been considered both good and bad news, yet in moderation can actually be beneficial to health. Studies suggest it may protect against type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, liver disease and depression while improving exercise performance while decreasing dementia/Alzheimer risk and increasing resilience against brain injuries. Furthermore, coffee contains numerous essential vitamins and minerals as well as antioxidants – making this popular beverage an ally rather than foe.
Studies conducted recently have demonstrated that people who regularly drink coffee may enjoy lower risks of heart disease and neurological diseases as well as reduced overall mortality, likely owing to chlorogenic acid and other plant compounds found in coffee. Both caffeinated and decaffeinated varieties have shown such effects – though this doesn’t mean you should sip on your favorite morning beverage in an attempt to improve health; many of these studies simply provide correlational data rather than definitive proof that coffee caused these results.
Additionally, it is crucial that you consider how you drink your coffee, since sugar and cream can have detrimental effects on health. By increasing caloric intake through these additives and contributing to obesity, hypertension, heart disease and diabetes – not to mention too much saturated fat and sugar consumption which could cancel out any potential benefits offered by coffee’s phytochemicals.
Be sure to drink high-quality coffee, as coffee beans are often heavily treated with pesticides. Opt for organic options or ask your local coffee shop to use only organic ingredients; avoid coffee altogether if you suffer from conditions like heartburn or digestive issues; pregnant and nursing women should not drink coffee either; additionally if caffeine causes sleep disorders it would be wiser not to partake.
However, most adults can safely consume several cups a day of coffee without experiencing side effects. Just be sure to limit yourself to 4-5 cups per day without sugar or cream for optimal results. And for an added boost in healthiness, consider adding turmeric. This spice contains curcuminoids with anti-inflammatory properties which have been shown to combat diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer; consider mixing it into your coffee or creating an aromatic turmeric latte for even greater enjoyment!
