As edible mushroom consumption gains more momentum, people are exploring various methods for eating them – one being mushroom tea.

Mushroom tea is a beverage prepared by steeping various species of mushrooms in hot water for several minutes to release their medicinal properties and promote balance within the body. These adaptogens help alleviate stress while encouraging equilibrium within our systems.

Mushroom tea’s flavor depends on which particular mushrooms are used; its tastes may be earthy or slightly stimulating while others can have more of a relaxing effect on the body. Most mushroom teas also contain very minimal caffeine content which makes them suitable for those trying to reduce their consumption of this stimulant.

ginger root adds an effective antinausea remedy, due to the phytochemicals in ginger (gingerol and shogaol) interacting with brain receptors for serotonergic 5-HT3 receptors and cholinergic M receptors to block release of neurotransmitters that cause nausea. If you suffer from nausea, consider including more ginger into your mushroom tea recipes or consider purchasing tea bags with added ginger as an extra convenience measure.

Making mushroom tea at home is easy, using either a kettle or coffee pot. First, gather up a small quantity of dried psilocybin mushrooms (from schedule35 is best) and grind them as finely as possible for ease of steeping. Next, heat some water to a temperature no higher than 70oC before adding your ground up mushrooms for 20 minutes of simmering time before straining out and serving whilst warm.

For those who prefer an easier preparation process, there are pre-made mushroom teas available from health food stores; however, please keep in mind that these do not produce the same effect as homemade mushroom tea.

To prepare mushroom tea properly, it is recommended to use only high quality, whole food products that are certified organic and free from chemicals or additives. Also, for maximum safety and consistency of effects it’s always advisable to consume psychedelic mushrooms with either an experienced underground therapist or close friend as a guide or trip-sitter.

Finally, when using mushroom tea it’s best to do it only for short durations as its effects tend to wear off quickly. Furthermore, for microdosing it is recommended to only use capsule-form versions of magic mushroom products, as these allow more accurate dosage control and provide consistent results than other methods of consumption. Also be mindful that any form of mushrooms consumption may lead to side effects including anxiety, dizziness or altered perception of reality.
