Is Nestle Coffee Crisp Halal?
Chocolate in its basic form is generally permissible under Islamic law; its composition includes cocoa liquor, cocoa solids and cocoa butter (an edible vegetable oil extracted from cocoa beans), milk and sugar. When combined with other ingredients like alcohol flavors (Turkish delight), fillings, artificial colors or lecithin derived from animal fat (Smarties and M&M’S), it becomes haraam.
Individuals have every right to decide for themselves whether their chocolate is halal or not; everyone is entitled to follow their beliefs and lifestyle as long as it doesn’t negatively impact anyone else. But it is important to remember that consuming non-halal chocolate produced using ingredients deemed forbidden could mean eating insect parts that are prohibited under Islamic law.
