Is Starbucks Halal in Japan?
Starbucks is considered halal in Japan provided you don’t purchase anything with pork or animal fat. All their pastries (cookies, cakes etc) are prepared using butter or vegetable products; their whipped cream also does not contain pig’s fat – however it is best to double check before purchasing an item from their menu.
Starbucks Japan provides an allergen chart on their website in English; as there are over 1800 stores throughout Japan, be sure to visit each one’s menu prior to visiting.
Doutor Coffee’s more than 100 shops across Japan provide customers with access to beverages without dairy in many of them, with Soy Latte/Dou Ru Rate, Iced Soy Milk Latte/Aisu Dou Ru Rate and other drinks made without dairy such as Soy Latte/Dou Ru Rate or Iced Soy Milk Latte (Aisu Dou Ru Rate), made using soy, almond or oat milk/amondo-otsumiruku available as an option – while several of their shops provide services such as Hoitsupukurimu or Coffee Fresh/kohihuretsushiyu creamer add-ins which contain dairy; additionally their Honey Sugar/hanishiyuga syrup is likely made with real honey making this not suitable for vegans or those following vegan lifestyles.
