Mushroom tea can be an effective way to strengthen your immune system. This morning beverage boasts numerous health advantages such as immune modulating properties, anti-inflammatory benefits and energy-boosting qualities.

Jarrod Wyatt allegedly wentuged out his MMA training partner’s eyes, heart and tongue after they both consumed mushroom tea together. He will stand trial in California on charges of murder and torture.

Wyatt pleads not guilty by reason of insanity

Jarrod Wyatt will face trial for murder and aggravated mayhem after killing Taylor Powell while under the influence of mushrooms, according to police reports. It is alleged that Wyatt gouged out Powell’s eyeballs and cut out his heart – acts which were perpetrated while under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms which they believed represented an epic struggle between God and Satan.

Sheriff’s deputies arriving at Wyatt’s Klamath River home found him naked and covered in blood, telling the officers, “I killed him,” as he described taking Powell’s heart out and cutting out most of his tongue and skin from his face. Powell was later discovered on a couch with an 18-inch incision to his chest; most of his face had also been cut off; while his heart had been found charred within a wood burning stove near by. An autopsy determined these organs had been removed while Powell was still alive — which autopsied organs had been taken before Powell died.

James Fallman, Wyatt’s attorney, contended that his client was powerless over himself at the time of the attack due to mushroom use, thus exonerating him of any responsibility for this criminal act.

A judge disagreed and ordered Wyatt to undergo multiple psychiatric examinations before being tried for his crimes. When these evaluations were complete in May, the judge declared Wyatt competent for trial; neither his prosecutor or public defender objected and so the case went ahead with trial.

Witnesses testified during the trial that Wyatt and two other men consumed mushroom tea prior to assaulting Powell, leading both victims to become fearful that a tsunami or end of world was imminent.

The prosecution alleged that Wyatt murderd and mutilated both of his victims because they consumed mushroom tea believing it represented a battle between God and Satan. On June 27th, a jury found Wyatt guilty of first degree murder and aggravated mayhem, and is currently held without bail at Humboldt County Jail pending the judge’s determination of either transference to state prison or commitment for mental illness treatment.

Wyatt pleads guilty to first degree murder

After taking mushrooms, Wyatt was convinced his still-living training partner was under the control of the devil and attacked him with devastating force – ripping out his heart, cutting off his tongue and mauling other parts of his body until police described the scene as looking similar to something from a horror film.

Murderous actions took place on March 2010 after Wyatt and two acquaintances consumed mushroom tea. While initially in good spirits, Wyatt became suddenly violent upon drinking it; his behavior rapidly worsened with shouting and complaints that his eyes were burning while trying to prevent one friend from leaving the flat.

Wyatt told police he believed there would be a tsunami coming and they would all be trapped inside the home. He grabbed Powell and used a rear chokehold he and Powell had practiced together during their MMA training sessions; Powell begged Wyatt not to do it, but Wyatt replied “Do you want fucking to die?”

A witness reported hearing an argument upstairs and seeing Storm grab an AR-15 rifle from his bedroom cupboard. After Wyatt loaded his weapon with bullets – saying he wanted to kill his father as Duane had beaten up on him – Storm went downstairs where Wyatt shot him once in the chest before going back upstairs again and hiding.

Police found Wyatt naked and covered in blood when they arrived at her room, as well as scattered body parts including an eyeball that had been severely injured by various methods.

Under a plea deal with prosecutors, Wyatt admitted to first-degree murder and aggravated mayhem and will serve 50 years to life imprisonment. This agreement came about because he didn’t want his family testifying at trial as witnesses for him either.

A judge also ordered Wyatt to undergo a mental health evaluation and is likely to diagnose him with schizo-affective disorder. While waiting, he must wear an electronic monitoring device and be monitored by an armed guard.

Wyatt pleads guilty to aggravated mayhem

Jarrod Wyatt of Crescent City, California was sentenced Thursday to 47 years for murdering and maiming one of his sparring partners while under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms, reports the Eureka Times-Standard. Wyatt was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated mayhem charges according to reports by law enforcement and courts in Eureka and surrounding communities.

Del Norte County Sheriff’s Department deputies and Yurok Tribal police arrived at Wyatt’s Requa home where they discovered her naked and covered with blood, standing over Powell’s severely dismembered body – cut open, heart removed, tongue removed and skin torn from face ripped away by Wyatt who told officers: “I killed him.”

Witnesses reported that both men had consumed hallucinogenic mushrooms and believed the world was collapsing while Satan and God battled over its fate. Wyatt entered duel pleas of not guilty by reason of insanity, prompting psychiatrists to evaluate his mental competency for trial, before ultimately, in May, a judge deemed him competent to stand trial.

Defense counsel argued that Wyatt had suffered a psychotic break at the time of the murder and had no control over his actions. Robert Weisberg from Stanford Law School’s criminal justice center academic director warns against this strategy because it can only work when there’s clear evidence of severe schizophrenia; psychosis caused by drugs usually does not meet this threshold.

At a court hearing, the prosecutor stated unequivocally that Wyatt had committed first-degree murder with the intention of killing, as required for first degree murder charges. But defense attorney James Fallman denied this assertion: stating, “My client was trying to silence the devil”.

Wyatt will become eligible for parole in 2022, having been imprisoned at Humboldt County Prison since October. Additionally, he must serve a minimum sentence of 50 years for the mutilation and torture of Taylor Powell – upon his release Wyatt will be monitored by his public defender in Humboldt County.
