Product Description

Why choose a turmeric supplement? Turmeric is a popular spice with potent health benefits. Turmeric supports liver health, gastrointestinal health, digestive comfort, cognitive health (mood and memory), joint health, movement and physical function, plus musculoskeletal health. It’s an antioxidant that helps protect the body from the damaging effects of free radicals and oxidative stress.*

The spice turmeric is used by chefs in curries, soups and sauces; moreover, many herbalists and health gurus use turmeric for its outstanding support for your liver, joints and gastrointestinal system. Over the last 25 years, modern medicine has increasingly acknowledged the importance of turmeric, particularly the benefits of curcumin, a well-known and frequently studied phytonutrient in turmeric. Curcumin is a powerful antioxidant and can help support heart, cardiovascular and joint health, which is why turmeric supplements can help promote liver and joint health, plus daily wellness.* Product labels may vary. Same formula. New look.

More About Turmeric

Turmeric is a plant in the same botanical family as ginger. It’s native to southern Asia, but turmeric is grown in a few other warm, humid climates around the globe. Like ginger, it’s the tuberous shoots (rhizomes) of the plant that are used in foods and health supplements. The powdered turmeric you find in the spice aisle is made by boiling, drying and finely grinding the roots of the turmeric plant. Most people think of turmeric as the “curry spice” and mistakenly think turmeric is spicy. Turmeric gives curry its signature, yellow color and distinct flavor, but it isn’t actually spicy. Turmeric is also added to mustards, pickles and relish, and it’s sometimes used as a substitute for saffron. But aside from lending color and flavor to some of our favorite foods, the potential health benefits of turmeric are truly impressive. Research and historical usage shows turmeric may provide relief and support to our bodies in many ways.*

History of Turmeric Use

Turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic practices and as a culinary spice for nearly 4,000 years, dating as far back as the Vedic culture in India, where it also held religious significance. An Ayurvedic text dating back to 250 B.C. mentioned its use for relief from digestive disturbances related to spoiled food; plus, other cultures use turmeric for digestive health and liver support, even including it in lotions and creams as a skin tonic.*

Over the last 25 years, modern medicine has increasingly acknowledged the importance of turmeric as well, particularly the benefits of curcumin, a well-known and frequently studied phytonutrient in turmeric. Curcumin, which is found in turmeric, is a powerful antioxidant and can help support heart, cardiovascular and joint health.*

Turmeric and Digestive Health

Turmeric provides multifaceted digestive comfort and supports the lower gastrointestinal system. Herbalists have used turmeric for centuries as a liver tonic. Because of its digestive benefits, some people also use turmeric for weight loss.*

What is the Difference Between Curcumin and Turmeric?

Turmeric is a plant scientifically known as Curcuma longa. It’s the roots of this plant that are used in culinary spice powders and herbal tonics. Curcumin is a naturally occurring compound within the turmeric plant’s roots. It’s a carotenoid pigment that has strong antioxidant activity and gives turmeric its flashy yellow color. There are two other compounds in turmeric that are related: demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin. Collectively, they are all three known as curcuminoids.*

Turmeric Roots and Turmeric Extract

Turmeric roots contain a number of substances beyond curcumin. The turmeric spice you might have in your kitchen is made by drying and grinding whole turmeric root into a powder. Turmeric extract is a little different. It’s made by shredding turmeric root and letting it sit in edible solvents for several weeks before straining, and the result is a strong elixir. Turmeric root is also used in wellness teas.*

To start I have been a migraine sufferer for going on thirty years. Four different neurologist later and having to retire because of daily migraines that no doctor could figure out. Daily like waking with a migraine, ugh! Doctors had me on Aimovig shot (800$ a month shot) and various other additional perscription treatments. (Sumatriptan, nurtec, etc.Secondly I have been taking turmeric curcumin since 2020 when this pandemic (so called) began. Always took couple a day. Various brands, this one included. Well…….I read how turmeric curcumin only is in our bodies for six hours. So I took it upon myself to try these curcumin supplements four times a day (6am, 12pm, 6pm, 12am) only I took 4 each time. There is no official recognized upper limit on this supplement. I suggest you research it before hand like I did.Miraculous !!!!!!!After two weeks I got symptom relief….. after three weeks I got enough relief to suspend Aimovig shots (3months without it now) after six weeks 90% of migraines are gone. I barely use any other relief.Lastly I need to say I have old healed lower back injury. Last year I discovered though MRI that I have cervical nerve issues. Also as a child I suffered migraines since being a an infant. My mom said I would rock and moan in my sleep. Doctors diagnosed childhood epilepsy that I would grow out of. I never did have a seizure. They gave me a anticonvulsant and “phenobarbital” as a fourth grader. Doctors won’t even entertain giving it to me now as a 68 year old. Really!! It was ok for a fourth grader but to dangerous for a 68 year old. Different issue……This turmeric curcumin is a miracle and I hope this review helps others.I have reduced my servings to three, four times a day. And when I stop them migraines start up again (low level but they do start) so I know this stuff is responsible. It’s been almost four months now and it’s so much of a relief I can’t express my thankfulness. I can only thank my savior Jesus Christ for leading me to try what is actually turning into a cure!!!!!!!I’m now figuring out which brands work the best. The kind with pepper extract work best but honestly every brand seems to work (500 mg). This is one of the four. Also you can get the pepper extract by itself. Also used was Carlyle, Hobaarch and Natures Nutrition. These are the three I’m on now. Remember couple a day did not work for me. It’s at least three (500mg) four times a day.

I heard that Doctors in India prescribe it for “Alzheimer s”; I am now 66 now, when i turn 70 in a few years i will let you know how i am doing.http://www.alzheimerindia.org/the-correlation-between-turmeric-and-alzheimers/ — this link says”:The correlation between turmeric and Alzheimer’sDecember 14, 2012 by hunilaModern medical research has found a strong correlation between Alzheimer’s disease and the intake of turmeric. Turmeric – a spice from the ginger family that is yellow in color is domestically grown in the Indian subcontinent. The use of turmeric in India dates back to ancient times, in fact turmeric is a spice that is part of almost any Indian food recipe. Apart from food, turmeric has various other uses, it is known the world over for its anti bacterial, anti inflammatory, antitumor antispasmodic, anti allergic properties and hence is used in medicines, cosmetics etc. In the science of Ayurveda Turmeric is a herb that is extremely beneficial in treating various diseases – let us now understand how turmeric can be beneficial in treating Alzheimer’s.The correlation or link up is attributed to the presence of the antioxidant curcumin – an active ingredient in turmeric known for its anti inflammatory effect. Curcumin that is found in turmeric has radical scavenging properties thereby preventing damage that can be caused to the cells of our body by free radicals. And it is this oxidant damage that is substantially responsible in the development of AD or Alzheimer’s disease. In an experiment conducted on mice, it was proved that the development and growth of amyloid plaques were substantially reduced with the ingestion of turmeric.Amyloid plaques in the brain of these mice caused inflammation and impairment to the cells in the brain. Amyloid plaques or the accumulation of protein elements is linked to the accumulation of free radicals that in turn damage cells of the nerves. Alzheimer’s alleviation could be based upon this ability of curcumin in turmeric to combat the development of plaque. Incidentally Alzheimer’s disease in adults in their sixties and seventies in India is far less when compared to adults of the same age in the US.

I have been very anaemic since I was born besides having lots of other deficiencies and I learned from an early age that vitamins are of great help. I did not take turmeric though until recently and after a few weeks of daily tablets I noticed a huge difference:- my knees do not make that noise anymore when going up and down the stairs (I used to take only glucosamine sulphate for this)- fingers and palms do not hurt anymore in the morning when I used to exercise or simply put them in cold water to feel better (I used to take iron, calcium or mix of supplements for this)- even my long hair stopped falling the way it used to (I used to take biotin or vitamins for hair and nails which helped my hair grow fast but could not stop the falling)Of course I am still taking the other vitamins in turn, depending how sick I am or how dizzy I am but turmeric is something I really recommend to everyone.Update: this is the second bottle I purchased on Amazon at the same great value for money.
