During a yearly eye exam, I decided to go for the extra diagnostic tests that were not covered by my insurance, one of which predicted likelihood of macular degeneration, one of my big fears. What doc explained made it sound like I was a good candidate for getting macular degeneration because my macular pigment layer (I think) was thin. He said that I could try to eliminate the decline and maybe even start to build up the layer by taking “Lipotriad Visionary” for its antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin. After having witnessed family members living with the disease, I said I’d try anything. The doctor said to take 2 pills every day, so I did. After one year, I was retested and there was a significant increase in macular pigment density. So not only did the decline stop, but the layer of pigment had thickened to a level that the doctor called “impressive.”I rarely write product reviews, but this was well worth it. I order from Amazon to make sure I have them on hand.I’m going to continue taking them this year and will evaluate the change next year. I encourage anyone concerned with macular degeneration to take these at 2 per day or whatever your doctor says.

Firstly, I am delighted to find a reasonably priced AREDS 2 product that has no dyes or preservatives. I am using Lipotriad Visionary, in spite of my questions about AREDS 2 vs. Lipotriad Visionary formula.I am a bit confused as to (1) the requirements for referring to a product as “AREDS 2”, and (2) which ingredients and respective quantities are most critical to general eye health, and specifically to arresting macular degeneration and cataracts progression, in supplements that differ from the AREDS 2 study in various ways. Many so-called AREDS 2 supplements are missing some ingredients entirely, and may add their own ingredients to the list.At least the Lipotriad Visionary formulation matches the AREDS 2 ingredients, even if the quantities are different.Here is a comparison of AREDS 2 formulation with Lipotriad Visionary. The Lipotriad amounts are in parenthesis (on the right): AREDS 2 – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -(Lipotriad Visionary)500 mg vitamin C – – – – – – – – – – – – – – (113 mg)400 I.U. vitamin E – – – – – – – – – – – – – – (100 IU)25 mg zinc as zinc oxide – – – – – – – – – (17.4 mg)2 mg copper as cupric oxide – – – – – – – (0.4 mg)10 mg lutein – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – (10 mg)2 mg zeaxanthin – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – (2.5 mg)350 mg DHA – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – (125 mg)650 mg EPA – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – (50 mg)The required AREDS 2 amounts are for someone with a 2,000 calorie diet.I have compared the missing quantities with what my wife is getting in her diet and in other supplements, and I am satisfied that she will be getting the full nutrient complement that her Ophthalmologist recommends to her.

i have been using these vitamins ever since my mom went blind from eye disease several years ago. i really want to keep my eyes as healthy as possible, and taking these AREDS vitamins is a start. 🙂 and they are so easy to take and affordable….other brands require you take two a day. these are only one a day and the capsule is small.

I have been taking this product for several years was recommended by my doctor because my family has bad eye problems. Has worked great for me and I’m going to continue to take it. I was having to buy this thru my doctor but I found it on here and was cheaper and I got it in just a few days.

Several years ago I was told by my optometrist to start taking the Arends supplement since AMD runs in the family; however, I was allergic to the dye in the capsule. The Lipotriad is dye free but contains the same beneficial ingredients-it’s a win win for me!

My ophthalmologist noticed Drusen deposits in one of my eyes on my last visit. He recommended I start taking an AREDS formulation, but he did not specify any particular brand. I did my research and based on ingredient list, ingredient quantities per pill, thoroughness as evidenced through documentation, and customer reviews, I concluded that Lipotriad Visionary is the best formulation available today.I’ve been taking it for a few months, which isn’t really long enough to notice vision improvements. However, my optomitrist checked my eyes four weeks ago and said he did not see any problems, and he could barely see the Drusen. I’ll know more after getting checked again next year by my ophthalmologist, but I am encouraged.I love that one pill per day is all that is required. I don’t like taking pills anymore than anyone else so anything that reduces the number of pills I take every day is helpful. These go down easy too. Don’t wait until you have a problem to start taking these – get started now and keep your eyes as healthy as possible for as long as possible!

I bought this after reading research articles about Leutin, I took one bottle and thought it might be helping prevent worsening eyesight so I ordered another bottle, but with this bottle I can tell if it’s actually doing anything, my eyesight is just as bad, in fact I had to get a new pair of eyeglasses 🙁 Sometimes with supplements it’s hard to tell if they are doing anything. But they don’t taste bad and are easy to swallow. Its just a little pricey for something you’re not sure is working.

It arrived on time and in great shape. These eye vitamins are amazing. Since starting them over 10 years ago my vision at each animal checkup has improved and my glasses lessened.

After my eye doctor told me I should be taking an ‘Areds 2 formula’, as I had the beginnings of macular degeneration, I started researching them all. As one who avoids artificial stuff in general, this formula stood out to me above the rest: it has natural vitamin e, the d-alpha, not the synthetic dl-alpha; and it has no chemical dyes, which who ever needs that in a pill. It also has a good balance of nutrients as recommended, and in only 1 small cap per day, instead of the more common 2 caps. It’s comparably priced and seems to me to be better than other areds 2 formulas. Will bring the box to show my eye dr. this visit, I don’t think they are familiar with this brand, and many people would like the option of a more natural formula. Time will tell if an areds2 supplement will help me, but this is one to try.

I began taking this product because I discovered I have two genetic markers for macular degeneration. In researching the condition, I learned that specific vitamins MAY arrest or slow the progression of the disease. I don’t have the disease at this time, just a possibility of developing it, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to take the vitamins. I have taken them for just over a month and am experiencing MUCH less dry eye symptoms. I did not expect the vitamins to address that condition but it seems that they have. As I don’t have macular degeneration, it is impossible to say whether these vitamins can positively affect that condition, so I only have a 4-star rating.
