Marcala region in Colombia where this coffee is produced uses no chemical inputs on their farm; coffee cherries are composted and used as fertilizer by using vermiculture techniques. With fewer insects at higher elevations where this coffee is grown, no harmful insecticides or repellents like pepper plants are usually necessary as effective natural solutions.
