Many of us appreciate a delicious morning cup of coffee accompanied by cream. Unfortunately, regular creamer can contain an abundance of added sugar which has been linked to obesity and heart disease. There are a few ways you can cut back on sugar consumption: non-dairy creamer is one option available as is skim milk, plant-based milks like almond or oat and protein powder which all can add nutrition while simultaneously decreasing how much added sugar we are taking in each day.

Non-Dairy Creamers

Most non dairy coffee creamers contain some form of added sugar and flavorings; Silk brand features 4 grams per tablespoon – this may not seem like much, but when consumed throughout the day this adds up fast! There are other harmful components found in non dairy creamers as well, including animal fat derived glycerin; mono and diglycerides; cellulose gel; guar gum; sodium caseinate; carrageenan; as well as natural and artificial flavors which could impact upon health issues as well.

Coconut oil offers a nutritious alternative to non-dairy creamers like creamer. Coconut oil contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which have been shown to speed up metabolism and help burn more fat, maintain a healthy weight, and reduce heart disease risk. To use it as an alternative creamer simply whisk some into your hot cup of coffee!

Milk powder offers another healthy option with less calories and carbs than liquid creamers, easily dissolving in hot water for convenient consumption. Plus, vegan versions may help if you have food sensitivities or are following a vegan diet!

If you’re seeking a low-sugar and low-fat coffee creamer, plain nondairy milk like skim or oat milk may be your ideal solution. Both varieties provide similar textures to heavy cream while providing essential calcium, potassium and other vitamins and minerals. For added flavor you could even try maple syrup or cinnamon to your cup!

As another option, try using whipped creamers made of powdered milk that contain less of the unhealthy ingredients found in other types of coffee creamers. Just be aware that certain whipped creamers contain added sugar or may be high in fat content.

If you can’t give up creamer in your morning cup of joe, and can’t seem to give up creamers entirely, add one tablespoon of butter instead. Dave Asprey has advocated this method as part of his Bulletproof coffee recipe and it may help you stay full for longer while increasing energy.
