What’s Healthier Coffee Or Red Bull?
People often turn to coffee or Red Bull when they need an energy boost, though both beverages provide quick energy boosts with various differences between them in terms of nutritional value, impact on weight and overall health.
Coffee typically contains less sugar than energy drinks, unless they’re sweetened with milk and other ingredients, making it a great way to limit how many calories you consume each day. But beware – as much caffeine can be detrimental in one cup; according to Mayo Clinic guidelines adults shouldn’t exceed 400 milligrams per day!
Energy drinks contain much more sugar than coffee, as well as extra vitamins and minerals that may benefit your body, but aren’t essential to its wellbeing. While energy drinks may contain vitamins that support physical wellbeing, their added sugar can lead to obesity and type 2 diabetes as well as increase heart disease risk; some 8-ounce servings have approximately 40 grams – more than recommended by the American Heart Association!
Even with their high sugar content, energy drinks often contain lower sodium levels that are beneficial to heart health. Furthermore, some have electrolytes which aid hydration before and after exercise; this makes these drinks useful for athletes, but aren’t the ideal choices for daily consumption.
Coffee and energy drinks may both help your metabolism to run more efficiently, burning off more fat. Furthermore, they may improve mood and increase alertness; however, if your aim is weight loss then these beverages should be avoided in favor of eating whole food diet with limited processed snacks and beverages intake.
If you’re seeking a healthier alternative to coffee and Red Bull, why not give green or unsweetened black tea a try? Both contain moderate levels of caffeine while not having as much added sugar than an energy drink can of Red Bull can. Furthermore, green and black teas contain numerous health benefits, including antioxidants that may prevent tooth decay as well as potassium and magnesium that support bone health – as well as caffeine!
