Trim Healthy Mama (THM), created by two sisters, is an eating plan focused on separating fuels and pairing meals in order to promote optimal weight loss and nutrition. Women of all backgrounds have been drawn into its embrace; joining its Facebook pages, Pinterest boards for recipes and online message boards for support; many even credit it with helping them both lose weight and get pregnant after years of trying!
Pearl Barrett and Serene Allison of New Zealand-born and Australian-raised fame created The Trim Healthy Mama Diet (THM Diet). Both sisters were unhappy with their current eating habits, looking for an eating plan to help them lose weight, satisfy food cravings, and boost energy. In 2012 they self-published their diet guide as the THM Diet Guide.
THM provides a balanced approach to healthy eating. The sisters believe no one should be restricted to an unsatisfying diet; they encourage people to find their own individual balance by choosing whole foods over processed ones and limiting processed and sugary items while getting plenty of protein without overexerting themselves. Their meal plan utilizes three categories – “S”, “E”, and “FP”, and allows the consumption of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and vegetables without restrictions or food groups being banned – pairing carbohydrates and fats together every three hours while other diets prohibit entire categories altogether!
Yes, coffee can be included on Trim Healthy Mama as long as the type of creamer or milk used contains only unsaturated fats which don’t conflict with THM eating plans. Almond milk or coconut milk have lower saturated fat content and therefore fit more comfortably within this eating plan.
On THM, black coffee or brewed tea have both been shown to help reduce belly fat while being low-calorie beverages. Furthermore, you can add sweetener as desired for an additional sweet touch!
Learning the THM diet requires some trial and error; don’t be too hard on yourself if there are unintended crossovers initially. What matters most is making an effort to follow it as much as possible before gradually adding back in your favorite foods.
