Ganoderma Tea and Reishi Tea
Ganoderma lucidum (Lingzhi) is a widely distributed basidiomycete with a woody texture, found throughout tropical and temperate regions in Europe, Asia, and America. Used both medicinally and culinary for over 2000 years across China, Japan, Korea, and other Asian countries first described in Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing written during the Eastern Han dynasty (25220 AD).
Lingzhi may draw its medicinal properties from polysaccharides, triterpenoids, sterols, proteins and peptides found in its components; its main benefits may include immunomodulation, antitumor activity, fatigue relief and prolonging life activities; it has also been demonstrated to possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and hypoglycemic activities.
Since the 1990s, more research has been conducted into the biological activity of G. lucidum extracts, specifically its polysaccharides. G. lucidum polysaccharides like galactose, glucosamine and arabinogalactane are particularly abundant and possess numerous bioactive constituents that provide multiple benefits including antioxidant protection against fatigue, anti-decrepitude proliferative inhibition antitumor immunity modulation and hypoglycemic activities.
Reishi tea is prepared using Ganoderma lucidum fruiting bodies dried and powdered into dried powder form for consumption as part of traditional Chinese medicine to strengthen immunity, lower stress levels and promote sleep.
