Coffee has long been a beloved morning beverage, but there are other ways of getting their caffeine fix. More and more people are opting to supplement their morning cup of joe with an assortment of mushrooms such as reishi, chaga or lion’s mane mushrooms – an approach known as mushroom tea or “mushroom tonic”.

Incorporating mushroom powder into this beverage requires using powder from dried fruiting bodies rather than mycelium as this contains around four times as many beneficial constituents than mycelium does.

Reishi mushrooms have long been prized in Asia as powerful tonic mushrooms that promote good health and longevity. Commonly referred to as the “mushroom of immortality”, Reishi can support liver health, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, improve respiratory function, ease asthma and allergies symptoms, strengthen your immune system strength, help you sleep better, relax more, boost immune system strength and more.

Reishi coffee can be easily prepared at home using cold-brewed or instant coffee mixed with mushroom powder (I recommend this brand), milk and spices, along with any additional ingredients such as milk. You’ll need some form of reishi mushroom powder (I suggest this brand) which comes in capsule form for easy use in any coffee maker or as special pods that fit right in. Alternatively, ready-made reishi mushroom coffee products have already been mixed and ground together with instant or ground coffee beans.
