Is Coffee Or Red Bull Healthier?
People rely on caffeine for energy boosts throughout their day. Some prefer coffee while others choose energy drinks like Red Bull; both contain caffeine; however, which one is healthier? In this article we’ll take a closer look at both beverages to determine which one may be more suitable.
Coffee is an all-natural drink made from roasted and ground coffee beans, boasting many beneficial antioxidants that contribute to overall health. Plus, its low caloric count and lack of added sugars makes it the healthier alternative compared to Red Bull which contains artificial sweeteners and other unhealthy additives; making coffee the more sensible option between the two beverages.
Both coffee and Red Bull contain caffeine, with coffee providing more natural sources. A typical cup of coffee typically contains 95-200 milligrams while 80 milligrams cans of Red Bull may also contain stimulants. Caffeine should only be consumed daily in doses no exceeding 400 milligrams to avoid symptoms like jitters, high blood pressure or difficulty sleeping.
While both beverages contain caffeine, their respective vitamin and mineral profiles vary significantly. While coffee typically offers potassium and iron-rich nutrients, Red Bull contains more Vitamin B12 and calcium than coffee does; additionally, our bodies absorb vitamins differently when taken as liquid supplements than when eaten whole foods.
Red Bull contains taurine, an amino acid that boosts circulation to working muscles during exercise. A cup of coffee does not contain taurine but still offers important vitamins and minerals.
Although both beverages provide energy boosts, their effects vary significantly in duration. Because coffee’s caffeine is absorbed more slowly than Red Bull’s, its duration tends to last longer. Furthermore, this varies depending on how the drinks are brewed.
Coffee tends to be healthier because it contains less sugar and more vitamins and minerals than Red Bull, not to mention being cheaper to make at home than purchase from stores. However, both beverages can serve as replacements for nutritious foods, so when selecting which drink best meets your dietary needs it is essential that your overall diet be considered when making this choice.
