Costa is an award-winning coffee chain in Britain and Ireland with over 2,800 outlets, more than double that of rival Starbucks stores in both countries. Costa was purchased by Coca-Cola for $4.9 billion earlier this year, taking an innovative approach to reaching American consumers.

Smart Cafes–small self-serve kiosks featuring baristas behind a counter offering beverages and snacks–are currently being tested at several airports throughout the U.S. They’re smaller footprint than traditional coffee shops and can easily fit into existing retail space; in addition, they’re open 24/7 offering food and beverages such as tea and bottled water in addition to coffee options.

Consumers on-the-go may appreciate this option for saving them the hassle of waiting in long queues at their local Costa branch. In addition, this concept allows the company to test different products such as its Podio system which allows customers to place and pay using mobile devices.

Costa offers a selection of handcrafted coffee and non-coffee beverages that is both satisfying and refreshing, such as their Mocha Italia blend which has become a Malaysian favorite, perfectly balancing sweetness with espresso intensity. Their Flat White highlights the baristas’ technical skills while Frostino blended drinks provide refreshing refreshment during warm days.

Egg Mayo Sandwich and Chicken Ham & Cheese Croissant cater to our national breakfast culture, while their Salted Caramel Shortcake and Pandan Cake have attracted loyal fan bases.

However, it should be noted that Costa does not possess JAKIM-certified halal certification, making it harder for Muslim customers to trust this chain. Therefore, it would be prudent for Muslim customers to only visit establishments with such certificates.
