Is Upgraded Bulletproof Coffee Organic?
Biohacker Dave Asprey created upgraded bulletproof coffee, an effective combination of high-grade coffee beans, grass-fed unsalted butter and MCT oil that is designed to improve focus, curb hunger and cravings, promote fat loss and keep blood sugar stable – without the typical caffeine and sugar crashes that often follow traditional coffee drinks. Not only that but upgraded bulletproof coffee also provides energy boosts while simultaneously balancing hormones and stabilizing blood sugar levels; essential components to thrive.
Contrary to conventional coffee, bulletproof coffee is created using beans that have been mechanically processed immediately following harvest with only cold, clean water in order to avoid contamination with mould toxins – something most coffee products contain – significantly reducing mycotoxins (secondary metabolites from microfungi that cause disease or death in humans) found in many beans and then roasted in small batches to retain flavor and quality. While this process is more costly than its conventional counterparts, its health benefits make the additional investment well-worth your while.
Key ingredients of bulletproof coffee include grass-fed butter and MCT oil (medium chain triglycerides extracted from coconut oil). You should aim to use only high-grade ingredients; otherwise you risk diluting its creamy consistency. Unsalted grass-fed butter offers the healthiest alternative; otherwise you could substitute coconut or palm kernel oil instead, as long as they’re organic non-GMO versions.
MCT oil is so important because it enables your body to use fat instead of sugar for fuel, giving you long-term energy and increasing metabolism. Bulletproof coffee uses Brain Octane MCT oil which Asprey claims is superior as it’s specially filtered to remove mycotoxins and only contains pure MCT oils.
Other than MCT oil, coffee can also benefit from additional nutrient-dense ingredients for an extra burst of flavour and added benefits. A scoop of collagen powder may help improve gut health while gelatin supports joint health – although remember that proteins – including collagen and gelatin – inhibit autophagy so should be avoided during fasting periods.
Asprey asserts that his blend of coffee and fats will transform your body into an efficient fat-burning machine, helping you shed one pound per day while improving focus, eradicating cravings, keeping you full for hours at a time, boosting IQ by 20 points and keeping cravings at bay. These claims sound impressive but may simply reflect Asprey’s excellent business acumen; there is no scientific proof his formula works as advertised.
