Description

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is Algal sourced long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs), that play a crucial role in infant growth and development. DHA is an abundant omega-3 fatty acid in the brain and the retina of the eye, representing about 97% and 93% of all the omega-3 fatty acids found in the brain and eyes. Obtaining adequate DHA from food can be challenging, particularly for vegetarians and those on low-fat diets. Novafun Algae DHA, originated from algae, is pure and safe. It contains 100 mg DHA per softgel. We suggest that children ≥ 4 years take two softgels daily or consult a healthcare professional.

This DHA is from algae which is what fish eat to get their omega 3. Bigger fish eat the smaller fish that feed on the algea. That is why fish oil from wild fish contains high level of DHA but farm fish do not.Novafun is an American company located in California. As a US firm, its products have to undergo more strenuous testing for quality than non-American companies. Please note that these are for children older than 4 years of age.

I bought this because my kids hate swallowing large Omega-3 supplements. This one contains 200 mg of DHA that comes from algae and it’s very easy to swallow. I was a bit concerned when I first saw the odd fish shape of the capsules. I guess it’s supposed to look cute to kids but why not make it the easiest shape to swallow? It turned out that my kids had no issue with swallowing these but I’d recommend a gummy for younger kids. I do wish that this supplement also had other omega-3 fatty acids, such as EPA and ALA but the DHA should be beneficial. It appears that these are manufactured in the USA, but the wording is a bit vague: “Manufactured for: America Willings Pharm LTD: followed by an address in California. I may be overanalyzing their wording, but I’d prefer the words “manufactured by America Willings” or “manufactured in the USA.” I am comforted that the capsules are manufactured in a cGMP-certified facility.

These algae sourced omega 3 pills are great for big kids who know how to swallow the pills. They are a bit on the larger size which is why I think it’s better for older kids. If you have to, you can cut the tails and squeeze the oil out, I haven’t needed to. My kids like that they are shaped like fish so they know what it is, even though this one is actually from algae. Lower down the food chain is always a good thing for contamination and such so I prefer this source over oils from bigger fish.

This is a supplement known as dha. It is said to be good for your brain eyes and heart health. I believe it. Have used it before myself and know it’s benefits. The person who would be using this who it was especially appreciate those benefits as they are needed. I am happy to have this and I consider DHA to be a very important nutrient. These are my own opinions I am not a healthcare practitioner trying to recommend for prescribe anything or cure anyone here. Just voicing my own opinion on this terrific supplement.

They are the size and shape of my skincare/ haircare ampoules. Not quite as large as typical fish oil pills, but bigger than typical vitamin D pills (which were the size I was expecting them to be). My daughter is used to taking liquid or gummy vitamin D supplements, so this was her first time taking actual pills. She held it in for several mouthfuls of water and wasn’t able to easily swallow it. I only give her 1 pill a day as she is 2.5 years old, but even if the dosage was smaller, I don’t think she would want to take 2 pills of this size.

I actually bought these for myself (not my kids) because I have difficulty swallowing giant omega 3 pills. These are absolutely perfect. They are a good, small size and are very easy to swallow. I also prefer to take algae based omega 3 now because I believe that it’s best to get it from the primary source. By the time you get omega 3 from fish oil, it’s likely been contaminated by microplastics/others. Algae are tiny organisms with shorter life cycles, are photosynthetic and there is no risk of upstream contamination. This bottle contains 90 caplets, which ends up being a 45 day supply (dose is 2 caplets, once daily). I have not tried getting my kids to take them yet, I do plan to. Also, unlike regular fish oil, I didn’t experience any fishy burps afterwards and the caplets don’t have a fishy smell either. This is a great deal for algae based omega 3 especially since it’s greater than a 30 day supply. Get this, your body will thank you!

This product was priced at $19.99 at this review. Bottle comes with 90 softgels with serving size of 2 softgels which provides 45 day supply. Each serving (2 softgels) provides Algae DHA: 200mg.The softgels come in a fish shape which I thought was really cute for kids and first time I had ever seen a softgels this way. They are small and kid friendly but recommend kids at older age to take and be watching as they take them for safety.I think it provides a good amount of DHA 200mg for kids and also is algae based, so fish free. Not so much “fish burp” free but still ok. I gave this product a 2 star although it was potential for a lot more but there is no evidence or information about this company or manufacturer to be found online. It’s really hard to trust a product that doesn’t really show any background or source even though the details say “Trusted Brand.” I cannot trust this brand if I don’t know anything about it.

This product – Novafun Algae DHA Softgels – is a bottle of 90 small softgels, each providing 200 mg of algae-derived DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid), an important Omega 3 fatty acid for brain development and eye health, among many other benefits. The recommended dose is 2 softgels per day, so this bottle represents a 45-day supply. The product is recommended for children ages 4 and up, assuming, of course, that they are able to swallow a capsule. Since this product is derived from algae, and not fish or krill oil, it does not have the “fishy” taste or aftertaste associated with fish oil capsules. At the time of this review (3/1/24), this product is selling on Amazon for $19.99, with a 10% off coupon, a reasonable value. The expiration date of the product is 1/27.I received this product at no cost as part of the Amazon Vine Program, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
