What Are the Benefits of Mushroom Tea?
Nothing beats a hot cup of tea to start off your day on the right foot, and mushroom tea has quickly become one of the latest tea trends. Not only does it taste deliciously with plenty of vitamins and antioxidants; but its multiple health benefits may also boost immunity, reduce stress levels, support the gut/liver, aid sleep quality and more!
Mushroom tea combines the healing powers of mushrooms with other medicinal herbs and ingredients, and has quickly become one of the hottest trends at health food stores and cafes alike. Brewed using different functional mushrooms (lion’s mane, cordyceps, chaga etc) plus superfoods like sage, ginger, hibiscus roots licorice root nettle leaf turmeric thyme etc to produce an intoxicating drink with the best of both worlds – creating the ultimate cup of brew!
Though mushroom tea can be purchased pre-packaged or from health food stores, making your own is just as straightforward. All it requires is a kettle, pot or mug, some type of mushroom powder such as from lion’s mane, cordyceps or chaga and the appropriate heat from boiling water – plus optional capsule form of mushroom extract to take. Be mindful to select powder that has undergone enough processing so its chitin remains soft for easy digestion as heat from boiling water enhances bioactive compounds present within.
Once the water has been boiled, allow it to steep for several minutes before enjoying your tea. To increase its strength, simply increase the amount of hot water. Some may enjoy adding honey or natural sweeteners such as Stevia as an additional sweetener for additional taste. Since mushroom tea may be overwhelming if it’s new to you, start small until you can increase up to a full cup.
